New Album, New Site, FaceBook

Hi all

I don't think i'll be posting here anymore. The first album is released. here are links. thanks for following this project :)

The music of TRAUN will be released as 3 episodic albums + 1 full-length B-Side album. Part 1: The Lilac Moon is available now.

Subsequent releases will happen within the span of a few months.  There is no backwards continuity between this release and the release in 2003. Instead, I have reworked some of the material from the 2003 album and integrated it with the new material on the current/upcoming albums. The website should hopefully make this clearer.

Since this is a personal FaceBook page, and the music will not appeal to all, I will post most information about the project on the new Traun Facebook page. And, if you want to make sure you don’t miss a release date, sign up on the mailing list.

FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/traunmusic/

NOTE — If you are familiar with the 2003 release (The Deserts of Traun: Part III The Lilac Moon ), you will hear a few revised arrangements of pieces from that album. It was important to include those pieces to complete the story/musical concept, and have the production match throughout. The project as a whole will consist of 50 tracks, so a lot of new material will be forthcoming on the next albums — which will be released soon…

Update on Traun progress

apologies - i have not updated this in a while. i am still working on things, and although i can't work full time on the project i am dedicated to finishing it. at this point i think i have 4 month of finalizing my midi and recording audio from virtual instruments or easily playable instruments. after that i'll be reaching out to the humans that will fill out some of the more detailed instrumental parts and vocals. one part will be a male opera part which i am excited about.

i think i'll get a facebook page up soon to get support rolling for this. i am feeling good about the music and the flow of the trilogy - its just a huge amount of work that i have little time and energy for. baby steps...

making progress on the albums

its been a bit of time since i have written - so for the few of you curious - Traun is steadily being assembled. about 5 months ago i finally committed to recording the audio of my midi compositions. I purchased some great virtual instruments and set up a small recording situation for easy instrument tracking. there are about 50 tracks spread out into 4 albums - synced with the story. if you have not seen them already - the album art is actually finished. i decided to work with Colby Bluth early on the albums because the timing seemed right for him, and it helped solidify the albums and their particular arrangement. if i can continue to fit in 10 to 20 hrs a week, i'm looking at recording drums and mixing next summer. thanks for listening

Traun Trilogy progress

just a random update. i am working on the project on a mostly daily basis in between my paid work. progress is slow/steady - tedious and at times exciting. its a mountain of compositions, at times seemingly never ending - but at one step at a time i am assuming i can complete the project.

the project will be split into 3 albums, which comprise 45 tracks, about 2+ hours of music. i just finished a piece that was rearranged as an experimental electronic piece. very weird way of working but it came out cool. bringing in some of the Tholus death metal material has been interesting as well. art concepts have also been mostly figured out, and the accompanying story is ironed. right now i am trying to fine tune the dense material, one track at a time, filling in holes, loose ends and figuring out what is being recorded by humans and what will be sampled instruments. very complicated to manage. heres my project management grid i rely on for piecing this whole thing together.
