Traun Trilogy progress

just a random update. i am working on the project on a mostly daily basis in between my paid work. progress is slow/steady - tedious and at times exciting. its a mountain of compositions, at times seemingly never ending - but at one step at a time i am assuming i can complete the project.

the project will be split into 3 albums, which comprise 45 tracks, about 2+ hours of music. i just finished a piece that was rearranged as an experimental electronic piece. very weird way of working but it came out cool. bringing in some of the Tholus death metal material has been interesting as well. art concepts have also been mostly figured out, and the accompanying story is ironed. right now i am trying to fine tune the dense material, one track at a time, filling in holes, loose ends and figuring out what is being recorded by humans and what will be sampled instruments. very complicated to manage. heres my project management grid i rely on for piecing this whole thing together.

Deserts of Traun update

i know its been a while, but the project has seen little motion since last i posted. there have been macro level refinements to the music/story/ and organization of the album - but i have yet to start really committing my pieces to audio. a lot has been going on that has had to take over my available creative time. One good distraction has been working on making the Deserts of Traun into a movie project - now titled the Fruitless Kingdom. see my other post for details. Health issues have also slowed things down, but i am hopeful and can see time opening up to finish the project soon. if the Deserts of Traun version 3 is something you are looking forward to - then i thank you in advance for the patience - and i'll try to post more updates in the future.

Fruitless Kingdom

Just wanted to announce here that i have been working hard at making the movie portion of the Deserts of Traun a reality. As some may know, Traun is a concept album/project based loosely on a science fiction story - which can best be realized by watching the 3 minute animated trailer by Colby Bluth (video is on the Fruitless Kingdom's homepage).

In order to really attempt to get the project made into a movie or series, the story had to become solid, and much of it reverse engineered to stay true to the trailer, and the musical project. piecing it together was somewhat like working on a rubiks cube. As it stands we have almost all the pieces to pitch the project for production - including a script written by a veteran writer and producer. check out the site fruitlesskingdom.com or the facebook page if you are interested in following the project.

The Deserts of Traun Version 3 is in production

The Deserts of Traun Version 3 is in production. It was a difficult process to get the project to take shape, as final parts, 'life' and compositional assets had to be attained from monster infested role playing game dungeons.

The plan is to combine about an hour of new music with the music of Lilac Moon, and Tholus yielding a finished conceptual piece. Multi-genre mayhem may once again make this the ultimate unmarketable project - but for those who fancy this art - i hope to make this a balanced evocative musical adventure. 2 CD's probably - with special guests planned.

TRAUN - version 3 new material almost finished composing

the new material for TRAUN is almost complete. i am happy with it and although it was a beast to compose with all the restrictions of a proper conceptual piece i am happy with it. the next step when this is complete is to add another round of finishing touches then open up the Lilac Moon files and raise the bar there a little. Still going to take some time because life is busy but as with all my projects - i get them done.

About to be partially laid off - Anyone have any gigs for me?

not much to say on this one. i work at UC Berkeley as a web developer of modest PHP sites with FileMaker and MySQL backends. Looking for som ework recording, composing or even doing some contract web work. let me know dave@notdavemurray.com
